An exceedingly easy time adding the Globe Electric smart bulb to my smart home network.
I am having an exceedingly easy time time adding the Globe Electric smart bulb. I believe myself to be tech-savvy. Heck, in 1987 (probably before whoever is reading this was born), I had a BITNET email and was posing on listserves at Purdue University. Plus, I have 15-year-old, Straight-A, Texas NASA Scholar, STM award-winning, know-it-all, high school student sitting to my left playing Xbox and kibitzing from time to time. He and I have built computers together. I proudly boast on my Résumé, adding three Phillips Hue White and color ambiance Smart Bulbs to my Amazon Alexa system, just a week and a half ago. This light bulb was really easy to install, I even used the Tuya app instead of the Globe app since it allows me to control all my devices in one.

Clear RBG light!!!
These bulbs are awesome for the lamp I use them in. I have a clear faceted housing that really benefits from a clear bulb and these LED lights were the ticket. Most RGB bulbs are frosted and did not give me the desired look. The included app links to my google smart home allowing integration into the rest of my lighting/smart home environment. The app allows for custom lighting themes and timing. The bulb is bright and works well as a front porch light. I have had many compliments from my neighbors and would recommend.

I’ve been waiting for this for years
I don’t typically write reviews, but this little lightbulb exceeded my expectations. My house isn’t wired with neutral wires for smart switches, so for years I’ve wanted a smart bulb that didn’t look like a snow cone. So far, this has worked perfectly. It took minutes to get it loaded onto Alexa and set up an on/off schedule, and it’s currently purple for Halloween. This just saved me hundreds of dollars on getting a smart switch installed.

Annoying and dim, like me
I didn’t know that a lightbulb could be annoying to use, but I guess there’s always a first time for everything.Connecting the lightbulb to the app took far longer than it should have, between detection issues and then just failing to connect halfway through the process, I think it took15 minutes to set up. You also have to endure the light flashing quickly at full brightness until the connection is complete, I don’t know why they thought that was a good design choice…The app is underwhelming but it works I guess. I’ve had the Philips bulbs in the past, and the Globe Electric app is similar but with fewer options to customize. I find it disappointing that you can’t sync multiple bulbs together without pre-programming each specific scene. You can set up the bulb for wake-up mode, which is great and exactly why I wanted these bulbs, but only one wake up schedule with fade-in is allowed. If you want to wake up at a different time on the weekend/off days, that can be scheduled too, but it just blinks on jarringly. It just seems like the app team had a lot of squandered opportunities to make this a much better product. If your wifi goes down, your phone is unusable or lost, or for whatever reason you can’t use the app, you can’t use your lights. I mean technically you might be able to toggle the lamp on and off to make it default to an on state, but that didn’t work for me, and if you do it three times – even if those three times take a minute to toggle – the bulb disconnects, starts flashing, and guess what now you can’t use your lamp. Just dumb.I don’t know if other types of bulbs in the same price range are better or have better apps, but now that the bulb is set up it’s just barely not annoying enough where I don’t want to go through the hassle of returning it to and seeing if the next brand is equally as bad. If you get them to light the room, get the 60W ones, 40W is not nearly enough light for a room light.

UPDATED: Glitches fixed but some filaments died in one week.
UPDATE: I’m keeping the original review below, but the option to update the firmware on each bulb was offered in the Globe app. Once updated, they stopped turning on by themselves and respond correctly to schedules and voice commands via my echo show. It’s now been 7 months since we first bought them and no other bulbs have had filaments go out like mentioned below. Must have been a dud. These turn on by themselves just a couple minutes after turning them off (whether via Globe app or Alexa command). We have to turn the wall switch off to keep the bulbs from turning on. I learned this the first night we installed them, unfortunately. They don’t turn on all at once, either. The first one turns itself on after 3-60 seconds and the other 5 (different fixtures) sprinkle on over the next 5 minutes. It’s annoying. None of the other wifi smart bulb brands we have do this, even on the same light fixture. However, it’s the only tunable white Edison smart bulb I was able to find so we’re working around the annoyance. If other brands made this, I would return them. One of the bulbs had it’s amber-white filament die today, just one week after installation. It started flickering and now won’t come on at all, not matter what I do in the app (pictured). The blue-white filaments in it are still working but I’ll be returning this one. Fingers crossed that the other 5 don’t do the same thing soon. It’s supposed to last 15 years at 3 hours a day. We’ll see.

Flickering on a dimmer switch
The product was difficult to pair to Globe Suite app. The light would flicker when attempting to use an up to date LED dimmer switch. The light worked perfectly on a regular switch with dimming through the app. The Pairing just took a little bit.

Easy to Set Up, Look Great
Purchased for a college apartment. Took less than 5 minutes to set up after taking them out of the box. The color fading could be better, but colors themselves are vibrant and clearly different from each other. Pair perfect with the lamp shades.

Plug and play, works for me.
It’s not studio lighting, but works as expected for me. It was easy to hook up with alexis.

The Globe brand smart bulbs are great value for money. These Edison style are no different. They connected instantly and work exactly as expected. They are a little larger than some Edison bulbs so check if they will fit. I only hope they last as smart bulbs are notoriously prone to failure….Time will tell. RECOMMENDED

Connects easily, and most importantly is actually a b11 size. Almost all other smart bulbs that are listed as b11 are actually half an inch longer and don’t fit in a closed small fixture. More expensive than others, but brand name quality means it’ll last longer than the cheaper ones that burn out in 2 years or so.

Excelente, fácil de sincronizar con Google Home, no parecen smart gracias a qué no tienen l base blanca few que tienen la mayoría y para mí eso es un plus

It’s a really nice looking bulb, and especially worth the extra cost for cases where you don’t have a lampshade.Up close you can really see the individual colors, which is a nice effect of the Edison-style LED bulb.It sets up as easy as the other Globe smart bulbs.BUT…My only issue– this does not reflect the product itself, and so I didn’t account for this while rating it– is that it came used! Or at least it was previously set up and named 🤦🏻♂️. Unfortunately I don’t think these bulbs store the usage data (which would have been amazing in this case) so it may have been a quick return. Regardless, people should not sell used light bulbs. Check for this when you set it up if that concerns you.

Globe recommends using the Globe app to control this bulb. The app definitively works, but the Tuya Smartlife app also works with this bulb. For me, this is great because it means that I can control this bulb using the same app as I use for all my other smart bulbs. The setup takes about two minutes. The bulb has a nice glass casing, which contains the four filaments inside. There are two cool white filaments and two warm white filaments, adjusting the color temperature adjust the brightness of each group of filament. When the bulb is set to maximum warmth (2000K), the cool white filaments are completely off. I think the bulb looks pretty good. It works well and it can be controlled by Alexa (on/off, color temperature and brightness).
