Really nice Garage Door Opener Controller
July 17, 2020: I finally got mine and it almost installed itself. Performance so far has almost been flawless but there were two hiccups where the door position was reported incorrectly. I have contacted the supplier about this issue but have not heard back yet. I was shocked as to how small this device is, the shipping box is tiny.There is one caution I have for potential buyers and that is: When installing the door position sensor on top of the door mind the distance from the top of the sensor bracket to the door track (for overhead doors) If I had installed mine where their photo suggests it would have destroyed the sensor the first time I opened the door. I recommend installing far enough to left or right of the track to assure sufficient clearance.Beyond that the installation was a breeze.Using the provided clip (nice touch) I clipped mine to the top of the garage door opener and because it is so small it really looks nice.TUYA’s Smart Life iPhone is used for this device and since I have used it for other devices before it was easy to setup the opener. It is nice to only need one app for so many devices. This is really a great app. I am not certain what they mean: to look for “Electrical”, because in the Smart Life app there is an entry for Garage Door Opener which worked perfectly.Once you power the device on you have to wait for the green light to go off before pressing the reset. It took longer for this to happen than they say. Once you press the reset the door should open or close. If is does it is time to pair it with your phone by adding the Garage Door Opener in the Smart life App and follow the instructions, which are very clear and easy.Now you can enjoy the convenience of controlling your garage door from anywhere.==================================================================================This is really sort of a pre-review for I haven’t received mine yet, it comes on July 20, 2020. I wanted to clear up some of the confusion I have seen about this device in other reviews and questions:1. The controller unit itself is 2.4g Wi-Fi, while the door sensor is 433mhz RF wireless communication. It works the same way as a remote control. Because of this there is no need to have a wire from the control unit and the sensor. I got this information from the manufacturer.2. The sensor requires a CR2032 3v button battery which should last about a year under normal use.I like the fact that installation of the door position sensor is much simpler because I don’t need to route a wire.One other item I want to clear up is the question of whether the app accurately reports door open or closed. As soon as I know for certain I will report it here.I do wish, however, that the manufacturer had included a User/Installation guide downlead as some others have done. I have included a copy of the sensor installation PDF for reference. I also received this from DATONTEN.Once I receive mine I will come back here to report my results, although I expect them to be positive. My son has one of these and he recommended it to me.

Quick, Simple and reliable
Quick, Simple and reliable without the need for expensive smarthome hubs (alexa, google echo, homepod etc.) Its better to plug in and receiver inside your home, close to your router, and make the connection to add the device to your phone app, then unplug and take it to your garage. Sometimes it’s difficult to add the device if it’s farther from the router.The sensors are wireless and easy to install with the provided mounting tape. One of the sensors needs button battery 3v (CV 2032). Hopefully will last a long time.I would recommend anyone looking for a simple and less expensive smart garage opener.

I would like to give less than even 1 star, but I cannot.This is the WORST product in this category ever, I would think.My kid got stuck standing in the rain outside because this piece of S_IT stopped working.When I got home, I tried to open the garage, but it could not find the device… It could see it, but could not connect to it.. It asked to [disconnect first, well, after I disconnected it, it could not connect … AND the freaking App, the GUI is like a kid developed it.. When you tap on the app, screen appears that has nothing to do with the opening of the garage door, and after a few seconds the Round blue button appears. If you have to add another user, that’s a long process too.. you have to disconnect yourself forst, then add another user.. and add the name, password, everything and it would give you a pop up for syncing time.. did that with 3 iPhones… went back the next day and looked at the so called logs… well, I seemingly opened the garage door on 22/5/3027… I am sure I wont be in the same house after a 1000 years… LOL.. SO all in all.. the worst piece of equipment, and implementation of a concept. DO NOT BUY THE DEVICE.

Good for old garage door openers. Pay attention to instruction details
We have a very old garage door opener, a Genie 450, that had no remotes but had a wall switch. After getting tired of texting people in the home to raise and lower the door for me, I first bought a bluetooth opener that said only the genie 459 was incompatible. The opener didn’t work, as our wired switch put out less than 3 volts, and the opener required 3v+. So I did some research, and found this model, which is powered by an AC adapter.Physical installation was very easy. What I messed up was setting up the keys and users. I was able to set up the first user/key on the rq door app and was immediately able to open and close the door. Then, I went to set up a key for my spouse. I had him install the app on his phone.I went to “Key Setup” on my phone and clicked “Add Remote”, and received the helpful message of “Your device cannot” or something like it. On his phone, he could not scan and find the device. After doing a factory reset a few times and going back and forth between phones, I realized the problem. You cannot have more than one user connected to the device at a time. This is stated in the instructions but I am not always smart.After disconnecting my phone using the app, I was able to add a key for my spouse using his phone. Afterwards, he was able to open and close the door successfully, and his key was listed in the key list accessible through the admin page. Everything seems fine now and we will enjoy being able to remotely open and close our door.

Install was easy and completed in about 40 min.The main unit that connects to the opener was simple to install and inserted the wires in the small holes. I didn’t have to reset any codes or anythingThe hardest part was trying to find a place for the sensors to tell if the garage door is open/close. For me, I found the best place was on the side of the garage door. I mounted the larger sensor onto the rail by using some extra velcro that I had. I did this so that I can easily remove it when it’s time to change the battery (which is a CR2032). I attached the smaller sensor to the door. The strange thing is why they provided the ‘L” bracket, when all you really need is a flat metal plate. See my pictureThe software is easy to use and installSome things I wish it had:- the software to allow for an android widget on my smartphone so I don’t need to open the app to open the door. It would be nice to just press a button from my main screen on android to open the garage door.- get rid of the L bracket and just a flat plate will do. Or even better, have a gyroscope sensor that detects when it’s horizontal/vertical (like the chamberlain garage door opener) to detect when the door is open/close

I received the product an great condition and it was a sleek design, so it wasn’t so bulky to handle and install. At first it was challenging to install the controller, as I could not get the short circuit to occur with my Craftsman garage door opener. Setting up the wi-fi connection was a breeze, no issues at all … it was straight-forward. Since I could not get the wiring to work with my garage door model, I reached out to the seller and they were very prompt in responding to my issue. They sent out a much larger PDF format of the wiring diagrams and I was able to get the wiring completed and the garage door opener is working like a beauty now. The app UI is pretty sleek, better than the Chamberlain one I had that stopped working after how many months only. Over all, the product and the design is great for the price and the customer service I got was amazing. Thank you Dina for your help and assistance and your prompt response to my email. It’s a great buy and I would recommend it for those looking for a wireless option to control their garage door opener.

The Item works well if you simply use the Smartlife/Tuya app. Siri integration is limited to smarlife shortcuts. NO real homekit intergration. Alexa integration is limited to status and closing the door. Opening the door is imposible.In an attempt to integrate this into homekit, I used Homebridge, this unit works extremely strange. When the door was open it would show up as closed in homekit. Sometimes it showed the correct state but for the most part no.You know this device is dated because the usb it uses is a USB MINI. Not even Micro.For my part, i wish I could return it. But the door sensor got damaged, still works but it definetly is not returnable.I will eat the cost. But I need to warn buyers of shortfalls, so you don’t buy without the information.

I bought this garage door opener for my Genie 1500 garage door. The instructions were simple to follow for installation. At first, the only part I could get to work was the door sensors which was great because my kids are always leaving the door open. But I couldn’t get it to open and close with the app. So I reached out to the email address they provide for help and I was in contact with Zhou Dina. Zhou was extremely helpful. Zhou walked me through my set up and realized that I would need an adapter for my door to work. Zhou advised that they were send me a new adapter free of charge and that I would just have to follow the directions. It only took a few days for the extra piece to arrive and I hooked it up to the original part as directed. Now the garage door opens and closes with the app and I can even ask google to open/close the door and I can ask google if my garage door was left open or not. Thank you very much for such a positive experience in the product and the customer service! I am extremely happy.

The black screen part of the unit was scuffed a bit, I had 2 bags of the reset pin/screws but the reset pin/screws were outside of 1 bag. Missing double-sided tape promised in the instructions. Wires and twist ties weren’t coiled nicely so I’m suspecting I got a returned unit. I didn’t want to wait for a replacement so I just went ahead and installed same night I received it.I powered it on in my kitchen, reset with the pin push as advised in instructions, downloaded the Smart Life app and setup there first. Then tested the sensor for open/close by putting the 2 pieces together and pull apart, worked great. Unplugged power and then took to garage.In the garage, I took out the first terminal (push the bottom tab with a screwdriver) with wiring in my Chamberlain Liftmaster Pro 1/2hp (11 yr old model) and twisted in the red wire from the Datonten unit, then put it back into the terminal. Did the same thing with 2nd terminal (from left) there were already 2 wires in there, twisted my black/red striped wire from the unit onto 1 and put all 3 back into terminal 2, then plugged into power outlet in my ceiling where my garage door opener already took 1 spot. the bracket holes didn’t line up on my garage door top for the small sensor, so I just used my gorilla double-sided tape and stuck it on. Used my own tape for the big sensor with the battery onto the wall – redid it when it fell off (placed too low close to the door) – so make sure you place it slightly on higher side where the bracket/small sensor reaches. Your garage door needs a tiny bit of clearance before it moves away from the wall. Works great, logs and detects if door is opened by the usual panel button or my rearview mirror homelink button. Google assistant works great too, free.
