Perfect Solution for Retrofitting Smart Home Controls
These Shelly 1 Gen3 smart relay switches are nothing short of awesome! They fit snugly (sometimes a bit tight) into the same box as the outlet or switch you’re looking to control, making them an excellent solution for retrofitting existing lighting and wiring in your home without needing to replace switches or modify wiring. The devices work seamlessly on both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and pairing them is straightforward. While a few of our devices required a full reset during integration, it was a minor hiccup in an otherwise smooth process. If you’re looking for a reliable, versatile, Alexa-compatible, and cost-effective way to bring smart control to your home, these are the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Best automation device
Love the simplicity of the shelly device with dry contacts. I have upgraded my old relay with this. It works well as a garage opener with a switch. It is so small that I put the device in a small container. It has worked flawlessly. It is so easy to configure and utilize scenes. There has not been any connectivity issues. Love that shelly devices are compatible with other applications so that we can integrate with ease. The device is very durable and works with most automation use cases. I have used them with mains switches, 3d printers, irrigation, and linking to other relays. It is fantastic.

I’m in love with Shelly 🙂 flexible and customizable for a variety of usage scenarios
This is my first Shelly device and I’m using it as a 12v backup sump pump controller. It is powered by a 12V LiFePO4 battery (amazon) through a 12v stabilizer (amazon) to drive a 12v bilge pump (harbor freight) with RC snubber (amazon). So far it has worked correctly in a simulated failure of the main sump pump.Very helpful that it is programmable with JavaScript. Just a few lines of code to trigger the pump when the float switch completes the built-in switch contact feature. Then the configurable setting to turn off after x seconds takes over and turns it off.Initially, Shelly was using the battery pretty quickly. Just a few days and a significant percentage of battery had been used. Then I found the low power mode setting and turned that on and that worked really well to cut down the battery usage. With the low power mode on it has been powered by the same 100ah battery charge for over 3 weeks and the battery still has 99% charge according to the Bluetooth battery management system. I’m sure there’s some reduced performance penalty or something, but I haven’t noticed any change for my scenario. One thing I wish it had was some easy way to send push notification to their mobile app. It would be helpful to know if the backup pump turned has triggered. The only way I see in app to know if it turned on is to manually look at the device activity log.Still trying to figure out if there is some way I can read the battery BMS data using the Shelly Bluetooth JavaScript API. Would be nice to use the Shelly to monitor the battery and somehow alert me when it’s getting low … or better yet switch on another Shelly device to turn on the battery charger!

Works well.
I use this with a pre-existing switch (which is wired in the way that makes replacement with a smart switch very difficult) and it seems fine.It connects easily to my wifi network, and didn’t stumble at all over the fact that I have the same SSID on 2.4 and 5GHz.I’m not doing a ton with it: I wanted to automate a difficult lighting circuit, and it has automated that — including using the pre-existing light switch, and without any network connectivity necessary. But it can do a ton of things. It is readily apparent that Shelly devices can form their own Wifi network, talking amongst themselves, and never have any reason to talk to the outside world (or an “assistant” or anything else) while still automating a home. But it also does integrate well with Home Assistant; no trouble there at all. It just slid right into place.I kind of wish there were some internal jumpers or something to help out. I had to add several wires to a junction box in order to make this work, and (in my case) a box extension is required to make it all fit. While it’s nice that it has dry relay contacts, I think that two of the wires I added could be eliminated if things were routed differently internal to the Shelly device.

Replaced a crispy Gen1
Hopefully these are more tolerant to voltage spikes. I had the GEN1 fry – in a nice crispy burnt up way – when my voltage spiked from 12v to 15v due to a dying converter in a motorhome installation. Dangerous situation! The specs suggest these should be more tolerant. We shall see – other than that… these have been great devices over the years for upgrading analog manual switches behind the switch plates in very small places.

Great gadget
This is a great little device I will definitely find multiple uses for it. My original use (with Chamberlain garage door opener) did not work but not due to Shelly’s shortcoming. My new garage door opener has Security 2.0 which is not compatible with relays. But I did test out the Shelly and it work great as a relay for any device that doesn’t have the restriction of the Chamberlain garage door opener. I love this little gadget.

Werkt zeer goed en snel als je de app goed kent. Voor een poort geen instellingen gevonden zoals drukknop of zo. Ik laat hem gewoon uitgaan na 1 seconde.

Great piece of tech. Lots of information available online including videos. Very small and fits discretely inside my garage door opener (Promatic 4).Extremely easy to set up and connected to Alexa with no problems. I`m using voice commands “batmobile, avengers assemble” or “open hangar doors” . The grandkids love that.
