Worked great for awhile, eventually died completely – completely ignored by Seller
Loved this device – have a crappy Guardian opener that doesn’t play well with any of the other remote opener options out there, but Remootio does! Fairly easy to install, and other than the 5% of the time the app is not able to connect to the device (despite internet connectivity not being an issue) I had no real complaints. Until…Until it randomly started dying – the device would not connect, and upon visual inspection I noted the white LED on the device was not on. Unplugged, replugged etc. Eventually it would randomly turn back on and work for awhile, then die again. After a couple of months of this it has completely died (light/device never turns back on).I have messaged the Seller twice over a few week period with zero response. Based on interactions with other sellers on Amazon, this is just not acceptable and really frustrating.Great device, just beware it might not last very long (and you’ll receive zero support).

All-time Best Rube Goldberg Machine Award Winner
A Rube Goldberg machine, named after American cartoonist Rube Goldberg, is a chain reaction–type machine or contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and (impractically) overly complicated way. This product is a winner for impractically.Task – open and close a garage door remotely. Seems simple enough.Installation – wires on Door Position sensor too short. Seems they don’t know how long a normal door opener bar/chain is. USP power cable too short. Seems they don’t know how far the ceiling plug is from a normal door opener unit. Had to mount the control unit on the door opener support structure with zip ties instead of on the unit itself.Programming – Not even going to get into that – other than to say when it was first connected to WIFI, our home Sonos system went out and all speakers had to be reset as did the router. No idea what’s up with that.Support – email the only option. Company based in Budapest Hungary which is a 6 to 9-hour time difference from US Eastern to Pacific time. Some reply’s take 24 hours – and if not timed right and need to reply to one of their reply;s, have to wait another day to get their 2nd reply. All I can say is thank goodness for Amazons easy return process!! This thing is going back.

I am handy, and this was WAY too complicated
To start, there are multiple sets of instructions for this product: One in/on the box, one at the QR code that comes with it, and then some online based on the type of opener you have. Each of these 3 varies. I have a very common garage door (craftsman) and am quite technically savvy. I am the one who fixes my family’s computer/printer issues, have set up outdoor lighting systems, wifi systems, Ring.com products, and all kinds of other similar things. This has terrible instructions. Perhaps this should only be sold wholesale to non-consumers…I first called Amazon support, which this product has, and they said that the product has great tech support, so since my question was somewhat specific, they advised that I should contact them. Fine. Why even offer Amazon Tech support tho? Next, I did then reach out to the company. But fun times ahead: Their tech support is ONLY available by email. So I spent time documenting what I had done, the type of garage door I had etc. I included photos too. They got back to me a full day later (mind you my garage was now non-functional) with some generic things to try (some of which I’d already done and noted to them) that didn’t work. I spent more time re-trying those things, then documenting what I did and emailing back. Their suggestions were not super clear- sometimes using non-consumer-friendly lingo. Examples:”Furthermore, the photo beam may not be connected which could cause the door malfunctions.”” Manual control button; You can connect a manual control button or a doorbell button to terminal 5 of the Remootio board. (The inputs are polarity independent, which means that within the same input terminal, the order of the wires does not matter). Make sure that when you enable the manual control, you choose the correct input (1 or 2). “HUH???Each time we corresponded, I had to wait another full 24 hours (or slightly longer) to hear back again with the same kind of non-helpful info. I tried one more round (going on 3 days now) and then gave up– uninstalled it all and packed it up for return. What a waste of time– I spent a lot of time setting up and trouble shooting via email. Save yourself the headache.

Would not sync and no customer support phone number
I so very much wanted this device to work. I followed the set up directions for syncing the device and the light was blinking as described in the instructions. The setup involved downloading the remootio app. Because I have multiple devices, the Google store sent the app to 2 Samsung phones and 1 Samsung tablet. The app would not load onto the tablet. I used the app to search for the device. When it didn’t locate the remootio with the first device, I tried with the second. There is a reset button inside the device. I held it down as described in to reset the device and the app still could not locate the device. I verified that Bluetooth was on and no other devices connected. I tried searching with wifi both on and off. I searched online and youtube for help, but didn’t find anything. I couldn’t find a phone number for customer service, but did find a email address. I sent am email, but this thing is going back. Maybe I just got a bad one.

Terrible customer service
The product is more costly than others. The components are small and sensors unreliable. Lastly, customer service replied to my contact with repeated trouble shooting directions, which didn’t solve the problem. Then they required a video, which I send. Never received the replacement part so I returned the whole apparatus for a refund from Amazon. Buyer be ware of this garage door remote!

Total garbage. Completely unreliable
Easy to set up. Easy to use at first. Then it just randomly dies and needs to be reset. Then it dies again. Then again. Then I unplugged it and threw it where it belongs, in the trash can.
