I don’t usually review my Amazon purchases. When I do, it’s because a product or buying experience is either unusually great or frustratingly terrible. This one has been great.First, the units are elegantly designed. I mean that in the way we engineers and scientists use the term. That is, the manufacturer has solved the rather complex problem of producing strong, durable, attractive and highly functional bookshelves at a modest price point and done so quite simply.The steel uprights are extremely strong and durable and the paulownia shelves are more than strong enough for almost any load of books they are likely to have to carry, are quite nice-looking, and are also very lightweight, a benefit for both shipping and handling. The hardware is higher quality than the vast majority of knockdown furniture I’ve assembled.Assembly was quick and easy. The instructions — mostly sketches — are better-executed and better-presented than any I’ve seen for products like this in years. The assembly steps and the placement of fastener locations are excellent, mostly arranged to minimize the need to flip and turn components while putting it all together. Everything aligned nicely and the hardware, without exception, was accurately machined and appropriate for its uses. There were even a few extra screws, which seems to me to be unusual these days.Fit and finish are also very good — no dings, scrapes or scratches and all the pieces fit nicely where they belong, largely, I’m sure, because careful finishing was followed by a *really* good packing job.Great moderately-priced bookshelves! I ordered two more immediately after assembling the first two

Easy to assemble and great for heavy books
I purchased this bookshelf about 2 weeks ago. So far I really like it. It was super easy to put together and holds a lot of books. It’s very sturdy with no wobbles or movement. I was skeptical because the actual shelves are very lightweight for being solid wood, but they are holding a good amount of weight. I have many art books which can be heavy. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that 2 shelves had holes drilled into the wood itself, but I easily hid them with books. I highly recommend this shelf if you have heavy books.

Very sturdy once assembled
The contents of the box were well packaged with all components logically arranged and easily removed. All items were present and accounted for. I had to do a vertical assembly, in lieu of the floor mounted method as I didn’t have the space on the floor to assemble it. The assembly went well, however, it was more difficult putting it together in the vertical position. I don’t understand the purpose of the x bracing. It adds nothing to the overall strength of the unit. It was a pain in the neck to assemble and all I can recommend is do not overtighten the screws and lock washers as it will skew the unit in different directions warping the assembly, making it very difficult to put the shelves on. Leave the x part snug but not tightly on. After the shelves are screwed on, the unit is very sturdy. The unit has a nice look once finished and fills the space I have it installed very nicely.

Awesome Bookshelf
Beautiful, high quality bookshelf. I don’t write a lot of reviews, but when a product exceeds expectations, I want to tell others. This bookshelf has quality metal supports and real wood shelves. It went together easily, and it looks wonderful. If you are sick of fake wood, this is the antidote.

Great bookshelf and seems steady enough to last. My books were overflowing on my old bookshelf so this one should give me plenty of extra room for growth!
