Pretty cool device!
So, I got this remote garage door opener and I thought it would be pretty cool to be able to open the garage door 2-3 minutes from home. Installation wasn’t too difficult. The one thing I don’t like: the very thin wires for the normally open switch contact. I don’t see why they don’t make them a few feet long. I wanted to position my opener away from the door motor, to prevent interference from electrical noise causing issues with the Wi-Fi connection. I had a roll of 24 AWG speaker wire, so I used it to extend these wires. I also wish the feedback proximity switch wire was a bit longer, as I ran it along the door track for a seamless installation and I had just enough wire for it to reach on the edge.Setup in the app was super easy. I already have added several ceiling fan controllers with the Smart Life app. I found out then they had a feature to automatically close and open the garage door when you leave and enter a certain distance to/from your house, but it’s in beta mode. It works maybe 75% of the time. Occasionally, I’ll have to open the app it self and it will recognize that is should open the door. My wife likes it, because if we go on vacation, we can give our garage remotes to others and still be able to open and close the garage door remotely. The proximity switch is pretty cool, and tell you if your door is closed and not closed. Alerts are instant, so now I can know if someone has opened the garage door.Alexa integration works well too. You need a 4 digit code to open the door, but can close it with no code. This makes it convenient when I get home from work, as I can tell Alexa to close the garage.

Tips for Installation – Yes, I Like It (One of 4 just failed, purchased 3-2023)
UPDATE:One of the four that I have just failed. It happens to be the newest one, purchased March 2023 (it is Nov 2023 now).PRIOR REVIEWI have three Marantec garage door openers on a new house I purchased. I’m guessing they were installed when the house was built in 2008.The automated Chamberlain openers offered by Amazon for deliveries will not work on this brand of openers. I bought one of these to see if it would work.It works fine, but here are some installation tips:-First, I’m guessing the instructions are translated from another language, likely Chinese. Understand you may have to figure out the translation typos, but they’re not significant.-GETTING IT TO WORK OR DETERMINING IF IT WILL WORK ON YOUR OPENER: As it tells you in the description , if you can jump across the two terminal connectors on the garage door opener itself OR on the opener button, this unit will work for you. Although it states you need to connect this unit to the door opener at the opener on the ceiling, you can actually connect it anyplace along that small 2 conductor wire which leads from the opener to the door opener switch. This is the switch which is usually wall mounted by a door. On my opener, it was a b*tch to get to the spot where the opener button wire connected to the opener itself as it had a weird wiring attachment, so I opted to connect this unit to the wiring at the door opener switch on the wall. You could also connect anyplace in that wire if need be.I now have four of these switches/openers. They are the simplest WiFi opener to install with not having to pair the opener to the new remote unit. The app itself seems nice. Amazon Alexa (Echo) immediately recognized it.

Say bye bye to MyQ
I have a Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener. This wifi device does not support it and I knew this and purchased anyway. My goal was use the Smart Life App (with alexa integration) and get rid of the paywall MyQ garbage (a few years ago Chamberlain shutdown API access to they MyQ functionality and now require paid services, their app still works but no external integrations). The MyQ openers have more complex opening controls so it’s not just a toggle relay by shorting a wire to make the door open/close. To get this to work I soldiered two wires on to the push button soldier pads on the opening controller on the wall. Luckily I already had an 8 pair wire in place, only using 2 wires for the controller, so I connected the soldiered wires to a second wire pair and then connected this wireless controller to the new wires. This worked perfectly. I have not had any wifi or connection drop problems.Pros:- If you already in the Smart Life app, this integrates easily.- Compact.- For what it does, the price is perfect.- Bye Bye MyQ garbage….Cons:- As others have said, the relay wires (red & black wire) are really short (maybe 6-8″). I’d say prepare to extend with some CAT5 or speaker wire.- The garage door is not listed under “Smart Home” in the alexa app when trying to setup routines using it has a trigger. I think they need to update firmware to support specific skill responses or alexa won’t support it with these capabilities (1 minus star for this problem).- They include a longer sensor cable to detect door closed. Why not include one when the door is all the way open? This way its possible to know if the door is actually fully open or stuck half way. In the app they just have a timer counter when opening the door but it doesn’t really know, it’s just knows it’s not closed.

Easy to install. Had a little trouble getting app to work but once it was working, it is very reliable. I can see whether my door is closed now wherever I am.
