Amazing product & video quality
We recently upgraded our Ring doorbell to this one and are super happy with the purchase. The doorbell was super easy and quick to setup and it works amazingly. The motion detection part of it is nice. Our old one used to go off at every little thing. This new Pro model doesn’t alert you for every little leaf that blows. The coolest feature I like about the Pro version is that it picks up the movement and alerts you about that but it also still records the rest of the times without making it at alert. The Pro model is definitely worth it for the security and for the price. I would highly recommend buying this model over any of the other ones.

Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (newest model) 2025
Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (newest model) 2025 work great compared to the older model this replaces. As good or better clarity, color brightness, etc. Didn’t notice any better vocal distance though. However, the latest model seems to be less sensitive to flag blowing in the wind. The WIFI chime unit that was included in the package works good, both doorbell and chime were easy to install

The Installer’s Critique
*The Good* : Optics and Build The 4K “Retinal” video quality on the new Wired Doorbell Pro is impressive. At a 15Mbps bitrate, the live stream is sharp and preserves a lot of detail that was lost in previous 1080p or 2K models. The hardware itself feels well-built; it is significantly larger than the Gen 2, but it looks more premium and less “plasticky.”*The Bad* – PoE Problems : Misleading and Proprietary I purchased the standard Wired Doorbell Pro (3rd Gen) because the specific “PoE version” appears to have been discontinued shortly after launch (likely due to poor ratings and confusing marketing). This doorbell has a USB-C port on the back, and the setup app explicitly allows you to select “PoE” as an installation method.I am a professional installer, and my client was replacing an old-school intercom system that already had a 2-gang junction box at the door. This provided the perfect amount of space to house a PoE-to-USB-C adapter for a clean, hardwired data connection. However, after testing multiple high-quality third-party adapters (including one that works with the notoriously picky Alexa Hub), the setup failed every time. While the adapters provided the required 9V/2.22A (20W) power, the doorbell refused to establish a data connection. It seems Ring has locked the data handshake to a proprietary adapter that they currently refuse to sell as a standalone accessory. It feels like a move to force professional users into the upcoming $500 “Elite” model coming in February. While the Gen 1 Elite retailed for $350, this new version is priced at $500—a massive jump simply because it is marketed to high-end integrators and their wealthy clients. Ring is effectively charging a $150 “tax” just to get the native PoE port that should have been accessible on the Pro model.*The Ugly* : The included “Chime Kit Mini” is a poor solution. It’s a tiny speaker that sticks awkwardly out of your chime box and sounds weak. Ring should do what many competitors do: include a local 433MHz wireless plug-in chime in the box. Instead, they rely on the “Ring Chime,” which is entirely dependent on the internet. If your ISP is down, your doorbell won’t ring inside the house even if your local network is fine. The latency delay between a button press and the chime sounding is still noticeable and annoying.*Verdict* : A solid 4K upgrade for a standard Wi-Fi install, but a nightmare for anyone wanting a professional PoE setup. If you don’t want to pay the $500 “integrator tax” for the new Elite, look at UniFi or Reolink.

Better but not a quick replacement
NOT an easy plug and play replacement for older generation wired Ring doorbell.Took a long time to get installed and set up. WiFi must be worse than older generation because it would not connect to my network and I ended up having to buy the Ring WiFi extender. Now that it’s actually working, the picture and voice quality is much better than the older version.

Very Nice Upgrade
I had the original Ring Pro wired doorbell before this upgrade, purchased in 2018. I do notice an improvement in low light performance. When in full infrared night mode I can see more than I could before. If I turn on my front lights the camera goes back into color mode which is nice. Resolution is better overall as well as when when zooming in on the app. Vertical angle is wider so now I can see my steps right up to the door which is nice for seeing delivered packages. The horizontal angle is slightly smaller but not enough to bother me. I can still see my entire driveway. I also purchased a Ring downward angled wedge to get a full view of our steps. This camera also lets you know if it sees a person, vehicle or package. Overall I am impressed with this camera. I think it’s worth the upgrade, especially if you have an older Ring Pro like I had.

Only the POE version cannot be Wi-Fi jammed by thives.
Cam has better images and features than earlier models. Didn’t need the angle adaptor, since the unit is too wide for my wood door trim. I had to run 10″ of new wiring from the old push-button hole to the new camera wiring point with a long boring bit, then splice it at the old button end. When it gets warm out, it will be difficult to cover the old hole with a splice behind it, with new wood filler. If you’re paying someone to do this, it would be over an hour of their time.Your old ding-dong bell could be made to work by programming a specialized Shelly control but new wiring from the ding-dong to the transformer will be needed. And it is likely your old transformer will need to be bigger. Figure a half-day to wire and another half-day for programming, in most cases.

This Is A Major Upgrade
I originally had the 1st Gen Wired Ring Doorbell Plus and it worked great and still did not have an issue (Was mounted for 5 years). When I saw this new model, and read about its specs, I decided to purchase it. Keep in mind my older model was still function great. Once i had it installed and configured, the quality of the lens was amazing. It out surpassed the 1st Gen version. It was simple to install, wire and mount the unit and I did not have to make any modifications. My entire home is covered by Ring cameras, base station and motion sensors and this added to the security of my home. This device was a bit pricey, and if its durability is like the 1st Gen, then it was worth it.
