    Keep naughty neighbors at bay
I recently purchased the spotlight ring camera, and it has truly transformed the way I keep an eye on my pets and ensure the security of my home. With a troublesome neighbor who constantly meddles and harasses, having this camera in view has alleviated many of my concerns.First and foremost, the spotlight ring camera excels in pet monitoring. As a pet owner, it’s essential for me to be able to check on my furry friends even when I’m not at home. This camera provides a clear and reliable view of my pets’ activities, allowing me to ensure their safety and well-being. From playful moments to meal times, I can now have peace of mind knowing that I can keep an eye on them at any time.In addition to pet monitoring, the camera serves as a robust security measure for my home. The presence of the camera alone acts as a deterrent to potential intruders and mischief-makers. The spotlight feature, coupled with its high-definition video quality, ensures that any suspicious activity is captured with clarity. This has been particularly helpful in dealing with my neighbor, as it provides evidence of their meddling and harassment. The ease of setup and use of this camera is worth mentioning. The installation process was straightforward, and the accompanying app is user-friendly, allowing me to easily access the camera’s feed from my smartphone or tablet. I appreciate how intuitive the interface is, making it simple to navigate through various settings and customize the camera to suit my preferences.Another standout aspect of the spotlight ring camera is its reliability. I have experienced no issues with connectivity or lag, which is crucial when it comes to monitoring my pets and home security. The camera’s motion detection capabilities are highly accurate, sending timely alerts whenever any movement is detected in its field of view. This ensures that I am promptly informed of any potential threats or disturbances.Overall, I highly recommend the spotlight ring camera for pet owners and anyone concerned about the security of their home. It not only provides peace of mind but also acts as a powerful deterrent against unwanted activities. With its exceptional pet monitoring capabilities, easy setup, reliable performance, and effective security features, this camera has become an invaluable asset in maintaining the safety and well-being of my pets and my home.

Terrific Little Video Camera That Does A Great Job
I bought this unit and installed it the next day. It’s a hard-wired version, but I see that it also comes with a battery. The camera can be powered by battery or by hard-wired 110 volt AC, and if the battery is selected, it can even be solar powered and battery recharged that way. The solar unit looks too clumsy so I decided to go with either battery or hard wire. Once I had it wired, I tried both power methods via the Ring App on my cell phone, and both methods power the video camera unit quite well, but I selected the hard-wire method anyway, and the battery will be a back-up unit if the power goes out.The view from this camera is quite good. It’s 1080P and it shows my entire driveway and front yard in movie-like quality. It allows me to hear what’s going on outside, and I can even talk through the unit, much like a Ring doorbell would. I have two Ring floodlight cameras installed, and this spotlight cam pro cooperates with the other two, that is to say that they are all interactive, and I can control all of them via my cell phone Ring App, from home, or while traveling. The Ring cameras all connect to my Wi-Fi and then to my cell phone, and the cell phone works with the cameras and Wi-Fi system from anywhere in the world. Overall, this is a terrific unit, and very easy to install – especially if the battery power method is selected.

Upgrade from the Plus – Much Better Video
We quickly upgraded from the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus (Battery) to the Ring Spotlight Cam Pro (Plug-In), returning the Plus because the video quality was noticeably poor. The Pro is a huge improvement, providing clearer video that allows us to see faces and read license plates in our driveway and walkway (from less than 15 feet away)—something the Plus struggled with.We chose the plug-in version, which was less expensive than the hardwired model. I ran an outlet in the attic to power it, but honestly, I would have preferred a hardwired option if it had been more cost-effective. It’s odd that the plug-in version costs less than the hardwired one—it really seems like it should be the other way around. Either way, wiring was required for us.Performance-wise, the Pro is a big upgrade. The video quality is significantly better, and having it always powered (not battery-dependent) gives us peace of mind. The Bird’s Eye View feature doesn’t seem particularly useful to us, but maybe we’re missing something. We also really like the built-in light—it’s a nice added layer of security. We prefer the spotlight cam over the Ring doorbells for security purposes. The only reason this isn’t a 5-star review is the “requirement” for a monthly subscription. While the hardware itself is great, it feels frustrating to pay extra for basic service that should be part of the package. It would be great if companies like Ring offered full access to all features in the hardware without the added cost of a subscription, allowing users to decide whether to opt into additional services.Overall, we’re very happy with this upgrade. If you’re deciding between the Plus and Pro, skip the Plus—the difference in quality is probably worth it.

  5. Not a specialist

Not a bad little camera and the motion light is very handy.Installation was easy and getting the unit online was a breeze.Battery life is very dependent on how often the light comes on and how bright the light is set, but it’s not bad. The extra battery slot is a great idea and I immediately got an additional battery for it.The camera is a little more grainy that expected but good enough for home security.

We added this camera to our current network and added a solar panel to keep it charged. It works as you would expect of a Ring product.

It’s good for what it is, how ever I thought I’d be able to see a license plate from the other side of the street but you can’t. So “good, but not amazing”.

The image quality did not meet expectations; the floodlight camera provides slightly better images. Additionally, the delivery was excessively delayed, taking more than two months to arrive.
