    Good product — Great Support
We bought the heater to compensate for the cold wind on our upstairs deck. It is easy to assemble and works fine, putting out as much heat as we needed (in February, near the water — lots of heat). What inspired this review was the support we got when we needed it. The heater was blown over in a high wind because I forgot to move it to shelter. I went to the manufacturer’s web site and found the link for emails to service. I explained the problem (bent reflector and broken glass tube) and received a response within one business day. They will replace the reflector immediately, but the glass tube is currently back-ordered. They will gave me an estimate of the back order time frame and will send ordering information for the glass tube as soon as the parts are received. I don’t know whether I’m more impressed by the speed of the response or its quality. Highly recommended.

nice looking addition to your patio
This patio heater has a really pretty look to it and the glass tube adds a lot of ambience to the outdoor space when turned on. I am not as thrilled with the aount of heat this puts off. It’s warm when you are next to it but the heat dissipates quickly much further away. It does work well in a three season room since the partial walled in space helps contain some of the heat . The built in wheels allow you to move it around with one person. It was fairly easy to install only took a couple hours total to complete. You will want to ensure this is secured to something when you are not using the tube in the middle allows it to catch a lot of air and my last heater (similar style) was easily knocked over and shattered in a wind storm.

    Standout heater
This is the second East Oak product we have gotten this year, and it is our first propane outdoor heater. Everything East Oak produces is top quality and reliable. This heater is no different. It came in a box about the size of a 65-inch TV and took about an hour to assemble. I was not looking forward to doing the assembly; however, I was surprised at how easy it was. I timed it but was shocked when I saw it was 60 minutes. It didn’t feel that long, and it certainly was not tedious. There are just a lot of parts. I also love that everything you need is included, even the tools. I tried setting it up with just what came with it, and everything worked perfectly. The outer parts, such as the top and the four base pieces, were well protected, and some were individually wrapped for protection from scratches. I love the wavey pattern; it gives it a nice professional look. It includes the option for adding wheels so it can quickly be moved around, or it comes with screws to secure it to the floor. It is also tall; just be aware when deciding which heater to get. The base is also large and easily fits a standard propane tank. The heater is quite heavy, so keep that in mind when planning for its transportation and installation. Please NOTE that it takes 30-60 seconds of holding in the pilot to get the propane all the way through its system before it will light. This process might be longer than what you’re used to with a BBQ, but it’s necessary for the heater to function properly. You will not hear any sound come through as you would with a BBQ, but that does not mean it isn’t working up to the ignition spark. If you haven’t used it for a while, you will still have to hold in the pilot for a little longer. Instructions are pre-attached to the base opening to help you through its operations.Once you have it going, the heater is amazing. The flame is super cool, and the unit heats up fast. I am so happy with it. It looks as much like a decorative piece as it is functional.

    Weak on heat.
The heat output is far less than I had anticipated.

Great visual display, heat output is less than “normal” patio heaters
I have seen these heaters in restaurants and have loved the look of the tall spire of flame inside the glass tube, so I gave this a try. It looks awesome!Assembly is required, but it is not that difficult. The various smaller boxes inside the main box are all labeled with part numbers and descriptions, so you know exactly which box to open. The parts themselves aren’t labeled, but there is a comprehensive list with pictures of the parts in the instruction manual, so it’s easy to figure out what you’re looking for. The screws/nuts are mounted to cardboard in a “blister pack” and are labeled appropriately. There are even a few parts labeled as extras, in case you drop one and it disappears on you. The kit even includes a small screwdriver with reversable tip (phillips and flat, but you only need the phillips) and a small wrench to help tighten nuts in one of the steps. It even includes a battery for the electric ignition. The one thing I should point out is that in a couple of the very first steps, the diagrams contradict each other: the main diagram is right side up, but the “call out” diagram (the closeup/expanded view) is upside down compared to the other diagram. So if you don’t look closely, you might miss that. There is no reason to have them in opposite directions, so it doesn’t make sense. Other than that, the directions are easy to follow. Once put together, it is very solid. The visual display is great, but the heat output is not as good as standard patio heaters. Standard heaters have the burner up high and the heat radiates outward as well as deflecting off the top shield cover. In this style, the burner is at about the middle of the whole unit because the flame has to go up into the glass tube for the visual effect, so not much heat radiates sideways and it is mostly dependent on reflecting off the top shield cover. But you’re getting this style mainly for the visual display, right? If you want a lot of heat, I recommend you stick with the standard style patio heater. I now have one of each, so I have the best of both worlds.
