Excellent Smart Switch – Packed with Features!
I’m very impressed with the UltraPro Z-Wave On/Off Switch. Installation was straightforward thanks to the clear instructions and standard wiring setup. It supports Z-Wave Plus technology, which means faster communication and extended range compared to older models. I love that it works seamlessly with multiple hubs like SmartThings and Hubitat, giving me flexibility for my smart home setup. The switch also includes advanced features like scene control and energy monitoring, which are huge bonuses for automation. The design is sleek, fits perfectly in a standard wall plate, and the LED indicator is subtle but helpful. Overall, this is a high-quality, reliable smart switch that delivers on performance and compatibility. Highly recommended!

Easy to install, Connects to hub and Alexa no problems
Well marked case, easy-to-read instructions, and wires connected easily with included wire nuts. The Hubitat hub discovered the switch quickly and it works fine with Alexa. Good value!

    No screw down terminals
Not a fan. The typical work box or electrical box will not house this oversized unit and the 5 wire nuts and wire to hook it up to wiring. Assuming you have a full pass through circuit of wires from the feed to what you are powering on you would need a double box to hold 6 x 14 gauge wires plus wire nuts plus the unit. Bring back the side screws and ground screw on the unit. It’s all plastic including the screw down brackets which will snap if you try to wedge everything in. The unit works flawlessly as the previous model did. Easy to sync up with the SmartThings app with hub. As an electrician, I installed a deeper box to accommodate all the wire. If you are doing a 3-way, now you have 8 x 14 gauge wires. Just a heads up

It works, it’s cheap… but it feels cheap too
I’m torn between 3 & 4 stars. It installed just fine, it paired perfectly, and I’ve had no problems in the few days I’ve had it. However, I hate the new form factor and design. The need to use wire nuts crowds up the box a ton and while I did fit it all, I had to shove all of the wires & nuts back into the box for a while before it would fit. I much prefer the old style with screws and wire terminals. Also, the backplate is now plastic and seems flimsy. I usually hold onto the metal backplate to push everything back but when I tried that here it felt like I was going to snap it, so I had to push it all in by hand before placing the switch. The overall downgrade in materials makes me doubt whether or not this thing is going to last, but time will tell. Can’t argue with the price though.Final verdict: If you can get a zooz switch on sale for less than $30 then I’d definitely buy that over this unless you want to use add-on switches for 3/4-way setups (which I do) and zooz doesn’t support those (which I already had installed).

Great to have a lower cost Z-Wave Switch option that isn’t old product
I’ve wanted to fill out the rest of my house, but haven’t been able to find a cheaper Z-Wave switch so I didn’t have to spend 35-40 dollars, so this worked perfectly. Different design (probably why its less expensive) but does everything I use my other Z-Wave switches for. Probably buy more so I can finally turn off my closet and bathroom lights from bed when my Wife forgets to turn them off 😉

New Design – Different from All My Previous Z-Wave Switches
I just saw this new product last week on Amazon and ordered the 2 pack. The price was good. A bit cheaper than expected/usual for a pair of Z-Wave switches.I’ve already bought and installed over 20 Jasco/Ultra Pro/ZW4008, and more ZW4008 model switches, over the last few years from the likes of Honeywell, GE/Jasco, etc. which all have had the same general design. Also have several Jasco/Ultra Pro/ZWA3016ULT Z-Wave dimmer switches (which do NOT work properly with my Home Assistant setup in simple on/off “switch” mode) but are ok for dimmable lights. Disappointed they won’t do double duty in either mode (at least not until a firmware update makes them actually work like an on/off switch in that mode), but ok for their primary intended use as a dimmer switch. The design of all those Z-Wave switches was good IMO.These switches here (ZWN4017) are, I guess, a new and improved design – they are definitely different than all the others I mentioned above. Instead of 5 screws for load, line, neutral, traveler, and ground wires, these switches have the wires hardwired into the housing in the back. And in the box, they provide ample wire nuts so that you can use those to wire these switches into the existing wiring in the wall box.Now I’m no electrician, but I don’t see how this is an improvement. Sure, no tools needed to wire it in, but now I have to figure out how I’m going to (and if I even can) get all those wire nuts up in the box behind the switch. The installs with the previous switches were easy, but getting everything back up in the box was always the hardest part (for me, a software guy… and generally clutsy with “hardware”.) The additional required wire nuts won’t make that any easier as they’ll take up more space that is at premium (at least in the wall boxes in my house.)Oh yeah, the “plate” that you screw into the wall box is now plastic. Probably fine but seems/feels cheaper than the metal used in the previous designs… which it was cheaper – so not a ding, but should be noted. So… just something to be aware of – these switches are different switch design from the first 39 Z-Wave I’ve installed over the last few years. Not sure if I’ll keep these and install them, return them, or just set them aside, but if I do install them, I assume they’ll work fine, like all the other UltraPro Z-Wave switches. Good quality, IMO… and that’s why I’ve kept buying them.
